A Few Words

About Me

My name is Munaf Mukadam and I am a Financial Planner with Gradidge-Mahura Investments (GMI). This is my personal website that I have created to present my services to potential clients. I have been practicing as a Financial Planner since 2013, and I specialise in Investment and Retirement Planning. If you are looking for financial advice on investment planning –  both local and offshore – or if you are approaching your retirement and would like financial advice on post-retirement income planning, I, together with the team at GMI, possess extensive knowledge and expertise in these areas. We believe that you can benefit tremendously and get the most value out of your money from our sound and refined investment philosophy, analytical approach to planning, tax saving strategies and so much more.

In addition, we can also provide advice on Shari’ah compliant investment solutions. Established in 2008, GMI is an award winning Independent Financial Planning Practice. Our Vision at GMI is to be the leading private wealth management company in South Africa and we are driven by values of independence, professionalism and confidentiality. Being independent allows us to offer unbiased and objective advice, sourcing investment solutions from a diverse range of product providers. Our advisory process adheres to the Code of Ethics and Practice Standards established by the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa. GMI has earned accreditation as an Approved Professional Practice by the Financial Planning Institute, distinguishing us as one of only 14 practices in the country to achieve this status. In 2021, we were honoured with the award for Approved Professional Practice of the Year. Furthermore, GMI has consistently maintained the Masthead Verified FAIS Seal of Compliance since 2015, a recognition awarded to practices that score above 85% in all four compliance audits conducted by Masthead, a Compliance Auditor for Financial Services Providers. We hope this assures our clients of our commitment to adhering to the regulatory and compliance requirements set forth by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority.

Regarding my educational background, I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Rhodes University, completed my Honours in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management at the University of Cape Town, and obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from Stellenbosch University. I subsequently achieved my Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation by passing the exams set by the Financial Planning Institute, becoming a proud member of the Institute. I enjoy meeting new people and I like to get to know my client on a more personal level. I have found that financial planning is more than just the numbers and the better I know and understand my client, the more relevant and impactful my advice can be.

I have also learnt that my ability to communicate my financial advice in a way that makes sense to my client, is critical. I can have the best financial knowledge in my head but if I am unable to communicate that knowledge to my client in a way that they understand and can make sense of, then my impact as an Adviser will be limited. And so, in my interactions with my clients, I encourage my clients to ask questions, I focus on simplifying the complicated jargon, and ultimately, I strive to ensure that my client understands the information and the plan that I am sharing and advising them on.
